BEACON is a non-profit, ecumenical body, established primarily to provide food and emergency financial assistance to those in need. To include providing for the social, physical and emotional needs of the most vulnerable citizens of the Greater Brunswick Community. BEACON relies on generous donations from supporters like you to fund their community programs including the Brunswick Food Bank and the Emergency Relief Fund providing rental assistance, security deposits, utility bills, and needs for local school children. Glade Valley Community Services (GVCS) is a local non-profit organization founded in 2004 to meet the needs of families and individuals in the Walkersville High School feeder district, which includes Union Bridge, Keymar, Ladiesburg, Mt. MVPHP

The mission of Middletown Valley People Helping People (MVPHP) is to develop and support programs that benefit the citizens of the Middletown Valley area. We serve residents of all ages that live in Braddock Heights, Middletown, Myersville, Wolfsville, and other local communities.

 

Programs that MVPHP provide and/or support:

  • Provides drivers for medical appointments

  • Coordinates holiday assistance

  • Contributes to local school supply drive

  • Supports exercise class for 50+

  • Support local senior citizens group

  • Provides drivers for the local Meals on Wheels

  • Provides emergency financial assistance

  • Provides referrals to other agencies

Religious Coalition

The Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs has been the leading provider of emergency shelter and supporting services in Frederick County, Maryland since 1981. They offer the County’s only two emergency shelter programs, provide healthcare, dental, and energy assistance to people and families in need, and work to prevent homelessness from becoming a reality. To learn more about The Religious Coalition click on their logo above to be redirected to their website home page.

The Alan P. Linton, Jr. Emergency Shelter is an 88-bed facility that offers homeless adults a safe place to sleep, shower, and receive laundry assistance.  The shelter is the largest in Frederick County and is open 365 days a year.  They provide case management for residents so that they may set up a plan to find secure housing.

​

The Emergency Family Shelter provides a place of stability for families experiencing hardships due to homelessness and poverty. Their goal is to keep families together and return them to permanent housing.

 

In addition to their emergency shelters and supporting services, each year The Religious Coalition hosts a School Supply Drive and Christmas Assistance Program supporting over 300 children of families facing poverty in local communities. 

​

The Seton Outreach Center serves residents of Northern Frederick County, Maryland. They provide emergency financial assistance when necessary, their goal is to help build bridges out of poverty by offering programs that will educate, empower, and encourage moving forward to a better, sustainable life. To learn more about the Seton Center click on their logo above to be redirected to their website home page.

A few of Seton's Outreach Programs: 

 

  • DePaul Dental program which works with area dentists and oral surgeons to provide adult dental services at reduced rates. Clients are interviewed for eligibility and services are provided to residents of northern Frederick County.

​

  • Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin’-By World (GA) is an internationally recognized, 16-20 week program known for its interactive small group format. Getting Ahead helps individuals impacted by poverty to build their resources needed for a better life.

 

The Outreach Office also Provides:

  • Short-term assistance with basic needs such as utilities or clothing

  • Information and referrals

  • Medical appointment transportation cost assistance

  • Case management

  • Job search support and skills training

  • Financial literacy and budgeting skills training

SVDP - St. Teresa of Calcutta Conference is an emergency financial assistance program whose mission is to provide those facing eviction, utilities cut off, need for security deposit assistance, need for prescriptions, and other financial crisis within the Brunswick, Jefferson, and Middletown Valley communities.
